Feedback

Feedback Processors are responsible for generating gameplay feedback after an Effect has been processed.

Unlike the other Processor categories, Power Core does not include any built-in Feedback Processors. Feedback implementations vary significantly between projects, so this category is intentionally left for game-specific implementations.

Feedback Processors differ from Standard Feedback Processors in how feedback is selected. They do not use sign-based separation to distinguish between positive and negative Effect values. Instead, they can use the Effect Result Attributes and Target Stat to determine which feedback should be generated.

Feedback Processors are typically used to:

  • Spawn visual effects (VFX)
  • Play sound effects (SFX)
  • Display floating damage or healing numbers
  • Trigger camera shake
  • Play hit reactions
  • Execute any other gameplay feedback appropriate for your project

Effect Result and Target Stat Separation

Feedback Processors can use the processed Effect Result Attributes together with the Target Stat to select the appropriate feedback.

For example, a Feedback Processor can use a combination of:

  • Target Stat — Determines which Stat was affected.
  • Effect Result Attributes — Determines the result or characteristics of the processed Effect.

This allows different feedback to be generated for the same Target Stat based on the Effect's processing results.

For example, a text feedback processor can define different text styles for different combinations of Target Stats and Effect Result Attributes:

  • A Health Target Stat with a Immune Result Attribute → immune text.

Samples

Example Feedback Processors can be found in the Samples package. These implementations demonstrate how to build custom Feedback Processors using Effect Result Attributes and Target Stats, and can be used as a starting point for your own project.
